Costa Rica Tops World as the Greenest, Happiest Country — Happy Planet Index
Costa Rica is the greenest and happiest country in the world, according to a list by Happy Planet Index that ranks nations by combining measures of their ecological footprint with the happiness of their citizens.
The HPI is developed by the New Economics Foundation and it shows the average years of happy life produced by a given society, nation or group of nations, per unit of planetary resources consumed. In other words, it represents the efficiency with which countries convert the earth’s finite resources into well-being experienced by their citizens.
