Tokyo Day 8 Part 2 — Kabukicho and Host Bars
After our tour of Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (Tokyo Day 8 Part 1), we wandered around Tokyo’s red light district, Kabukicho.
We were walking aimlessly in Kabuki-cho trying to find a place to eat when we chanced upon a quite alley with large posters of men with spiky hair – the the type of men who had been smiling at me throughout our trip here.
Apparently they are… hosuto or male escorts working at host bars! I thought they were smiling at me because they fancied me. They were just after my money, isn’t it? *heartbroken*
These two guys fit the “host” profile – spiky, bleached hair, slim-fit boot-cut jeans and pointy boots. We’re not too sure about they girls. They could be one of the following:
1. Being recruited by the boys to be hostesses;
2. Hostesses themselves and were friends with the boys;
3. Being invited to visit the host bars
They were handed out namecards so it should be either 1 or 3.
We left Kabukicho and ate a meal of udon and tempura (380 yen) before checking out of the apartment. We got ourselves tickets back to Narita Airport at the JR Shinjuku Ticket office for 3110 yen each.
And that was our autumn in Tokyo (back to index).
