Udaipur, India Voted World’s Best City for Travel in 2009

Udaipur, India, also known as the “Venice of the East,” was voted the world’s best city for travelers in 2009 in an online poll by Travel + Leisure magazine. Rounding up the top 10 cities are Cape Town, previous year favorite Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Chiang Mai, Florence, Luang Prabang, New York, Rome and San Francisco. Bali, Indonesia edged out 2008 favourite Galapagos to take best island destination.
